While analyzing online behavioral conditioning, Nicholas Carr once quipped, "The best way to predict behavior is to script it." Something similar appears to be happening with the QAnon mythology. This seems to be a form of propaganda that achieves its purpose by making its victims feel that they can finally respond to their intuitions about the unbelievability of the mainstream media, that the governments of the world are populated with low-level drones who serve unknown powers, and that the centers of power are surrounded by thick clouds of lies that ordinary people can never penetrate.

Clearly, it is much to the advantage of the elites if the healthy sense of truth in good-hearted people can be misdirected into a belief system that requires no more from them than trusting in the wise plan of unknown higher powers. This allows them to feel that they have found their place in "the plan" in which they participate through cryptic revelations that never quite resolve into anything concrete. In this way, they can let go of their well-justified anxieties because far wiser minds have worked everything out.

In other words, it provides them with an escape clause from their responsibility to think for themselves, to participate democratically in their duties as citizens, and to fight against the lies that penetrate ever more deeply into our daily lives. It would be hard to imagine a more effective way to deactivate that sector of society who would be most likely to offer compelling leadership in renewing the values of truth and justice. As Caitlin said, "… it’s a fake, decoy imitation of what a healthy revolutionary impulse would look like."

Though they use our goodness to trick us, the right response is not to abandon that goodness in order to escape their trickery, but to strengthen it by detaching our egos from ideologies so that nothing impedes our ability to see the truth.
